In the probate and estate administration process, the will is validated, assets and debts are inventoried, creditors and beneficiaries are properly notified, final debts are paid and final income and estate taxes are filed. It is not until the end of the estate process that assets are finally distributed to the heirs named in the will (or in accordance with Georgia intestate laws).
